Abstract. This presentation will introduce the educational measurement and statistics field in the United States, from federal policy to practice in industrial organizations, and from graduate programs in universities to the job market in USA. The everyday work at the testing organizations such as ETS will be introduced. The development of the related fields in China will be also briefly introduced. This talk tries to open students’ horizons by introducing this potential area that they could pursuit after their undergraduate education in Mathematics at CNU.
报告人简介:The presenter, Ying Li (李颖), is an alumnus of CNU. She graduated from Mathematics Department in 2004, and has been a high school teacher in Beijing Concord College of Sino-Canada (北京中加学校) for two years before she went to University of Maryland for her Ph.D. in 2006. She graduated from Maryland with a Ph.D. in Measurement, Statistics and Evaluation in the summer of 2011. Now, she has been work as a statistician psychometrician in American Institutes for Research for six months, and her job involves the technical aspects of K-12 statewide assessments such as field test item calibrations, form evaluations, scoring, and score reportings to ensure tests are statistically valid and reliable.
