令人费解的中式英语

一,中式英语抄录



近来,读几篇英语文章,有两篇几乎完全不懂。

这里随机挑出一些句子,考一考博友们。原文中的学科名称全部用 X 替代。



At present, over 120 universities have established undergraduate program of X in China, and formed a certain education scale. The teaching units are mainly composed of two types.



From the education level, training for X professionals has formed relatively perfect education systems covering undergraduate, postgraduate and in-service training.



This major emphasizes combination of X subject. 76 cultivation units are in the first batch of Master of X (MX). This plays a positive promotion role in cultivating high-quality implicational X professionals for China.



Owing to change of external environment and continuous development of research achievements of various disciplines, synchronous development is required for problem that should be solved by X  discipline and methods it relies on.



The basic task of discipline construction is to produce achievements and talents, concentrate our efforts on structural improvement and quality enhancement, pay equal attention to teaching and scientific research, and make them promote each other.



At present, China’s X is faced with a big development era of social economy. There are severe challenges before it, and good development opportunities are also presented at the same time. We have to enhance our quality to meet the challenges, and pay attention to cross-disciplines, knowledge fusion, mutual accommodation, and innovation.



At present, knowledge system of China’s X still remains improved and perfected. It is necessary to perfect and optimize the knowledge system of X discipline according to knowledge progress and development tendency of the discipline as well as social demand and education advantages of various academies by referring to foreign education experience.



One of the important means for promoting X professionals’ ability of solving practical problems is to add the teaching link of engineering management practice. In order to realize this objective, X education must cooperate with enterprises. On the one hand, students should enter enterprises and enhance practice training during the learning process; on the other hand, experts occupied in X  for a long time can be invited to schools for education.



It is beneficial to promoting education level of this discipline to further clarify training objectives of various levels.



The schooling period of undergraduates for X can be extended properly from the current 4 years to 5 or 6 years. Students with schooling period of 5 years can consider double degrees; students with schooling period of 6 years might think about the combined bachelor’s/master’s degree.

 


It is the inevitable requirement for deepening courses and reforming teaching contents to reform teaching methods and realize modernization of teaching means. Modern educational technology is an important means to reform teaching method. The key point of reforming X teaching method is to strengthen students’ perceptual cognition about practical management problems in engineering technology activities in the following aspects.

 


In the process of realizing the Chinese dream of national revival, X of huge sale is required. However, at present, X in China possesses very prominent problems, such as high cost and low quality.



Numerous X professionals are needed to promote X efficiency. The existing X cultivation system still has some gap with economical and social development in China.

 


二,翻译研究教授的英语句子



在某知名综合性大学英语系,亥教授补读硕士学位,修丙教授开出的课程《Y研究专题》。


课程修完,考核是写一篇课程论文。亥教授课程论文标题是:Some Little Sees on Y


丙教授读不懂文章标题,也读不懂文章内容,气得一天吃饭不进。隔壁家的小孩子过来玩,看见丙教授叹气,问:“伯伯,您为什么叹气?”丙教授灵机一动,想:说不定这孩子能读懂。问:“这句英语我读不懂,所以叹气。你看看,你能读懂吗?”小孩子看了看,说:“这有什么难的,不就是‘关于Y的一些小看法’吗?”丙教授听过,目瞪口呆,半天说不出话来。


这孩子是小学四年级学生。


亥教授在某师范专科学校毕业后,留校工作,继续教育本科,在因为文章多在省内职称统一评审中评为副教授。上世纪九十年代中期,从该师范专科学校调入某多科性学院,又因为文章多,在省统一职称评审中被评为教授。本世纪初,在高校大合并中,该多科性学院并入某知名综合性大学,亥教授便成为该知名综合性大学英语系教授。


丙教授,英语语言文学专业文学博士,师从于知名实力型英语语言文学专家,有留学经历,是实力型学者。


亥教授从事翻译研究,在翻译研究类期刊上发表过许多文章,如:《英语 as 汉译问题》、《英语as 汉译技巧、《英语as 汉译路径》、《英语 as 汉译理论探索》、等等。



三,从洋泾浜英语到中式英语



按汉语方式把英语词拼在一起,起初人们称为洋泾浜英语(pigeon English),后来称为中式英语(Chinese English, Chinglish)。


中式英语,和洋泾浜英语,虽然属于不同时代,却异曲同工。


个别句子,外国人和中国人交流时,也搬出来,一是套近乎,二是逗乐。如:



Long time no see.



但是,绝大多数句子,不仅外国人不懂,英语熟练的中国人也不懂。


曾经有人读到一个英语句子,do people want thick road,不懂;拿来问鉴,鉴不懂。后来,一位年轻朋友告诉鉴,说:一个读初一的孩子告诉他,这句话的意思是“做人要厚道”,是中式英语玩家们搞出来的。


中式英语玩家搞出一些英语句子来逗乐,是一种有趣的玩法。


亥教授们可不是中式英语玩家。最能读懂中式英语的,应该不是读小学的与初中的孩子们,而是亥教授们。开始想不通为什么有这样的令人费解的中式英语,听朋友讲过亥教授们的奇事之后,全想通啦。
