After many hours on the road and up in the air, I am finally home.
My brother was going to send me via the high-speed train from Hangzhou to Shanghai. After the 7.23 crash, we ended up taking the airport shuttle bus. It took nearly three hours to reach PVG. The leg distance on the shuttle bus was so small that even I felt uncomfortable. Poor brother of mine, who is much taller than I. Maybe I will still take the train next time. The disadvantage of taking a train is the taxi ride from the train station to PVG, which can be slow during the traffic and expensive.
The flight from PVG to ICN (S. Korea) was supposed to be 1.5 hrs. I was on the plane for 3 hrs! Why? Our plane could not take off at PVG. I wonder how common this kind of delay is.
Luckily, I didn't miss my connection. The transfer was STUPID! My arrival gate was 32, and the departure gate was 31. So, how far did I have to walk? A BIG circle, including going through security again! I wanted to ask: Why? I just came off your plane!
What's worse is after we were inside the gate and just in front of the plane, all US-bound passengers were searched again. Every bag was open, and all water bottles were taken away, which I heard because I didn't buy any water during the short wait. The war against terrorists cannot be won with these extra measures!
The plane ride was rough due to turbulences, and the lovely girl (about six years old) sitting next to me was bouncing around most of the time. Why didn't I asked the mother to switch the seat with her then? As I was getting off the plane, a flight attendant kept on talking to me in Korean. Finally, I said: "Sorry..." She realized that I was a foreign devil and switched to English: "Sorry about all the trouble..." I was puzzled for a moment, and then realized what she meant, that bouncing girl was the reason for the send-off apology... Well, my son used to bounce in his seat like that, so I can understand it. I just wish I would have a better luck next time when I fly, which is only three days from today...
