随机捡一篇比较诗学的文论看，有段话怎么看都没明白：

文库的方法，倾向于要限制翻译在文学研究中能占据的地位。即使在暗合那种方法的基础上产生出来的、有关翻译的更加理论化的写作，在一个比它们的潜在前提条件所允许的层面更加重要的层面上，时常试图为翻译辩护，现在也已经轮到文库要为它们的这样一个受限制的本质负责了。

找作者来对质（André Lefevere, 1981. Translated Literature: Towards an Integrated Theory. The Bulletin of the Midwest Modern Language Association Vol. 14, No. 1, pp. 68-78），原文是这样的：

The corpus approach tends to restrict the position translation can occupy in the study of literature. This, in turn, accounts for the rather limited nature ofmuch theoretical writing on translation tacitly produced on the basis of that approach, even if such writing often tries to vindicate translation to a greater extent than its underlying premises really allow.

   两家的偏离发生在this, in turn，译文说“现在也已经轮到”，这改变了原文的逻辑和意思。至于“在……层面上，时常……辩护”，就是鸡说鸭话，人不能懂了。

   原文结构很简单：文库方法要限制翻译，这恰好说明了（inturn）其写作的更大局限，尽管（even if）那些写作也想把翻译提高一点。

  原文接着说

Hence the confusion, the somewhat impotent rhetoricalflourishes, the shaking of heads over the stupidity of the world in general andthe academic world in particular, the anecdotal nature of much writing on thesubject and the generally diminished respectability in which that subject isheld.

这段话从语法看是不完整的：只是confusion（乱象？）的几个名词性同位语。译文就不抄了，连错都算不上。当然，我也不知道怎么译才好。不知文艺圈儿的，不明白thesubject从哪儿来的respectability。

   顺便感想一下：如今研究中国古典文学的人喜欢套几个西洋概念和方法，遗憾的是他们读外文和读古文一样的不通。我桌上有本《中国美学史话》，英文题目是：Chinese Beautiful Philosophy。当然，这也许是封面设计者玩儿的文字游戏，与作者和美学无关。
