I'm afraid I only just read it now because my email inbox is so
overflowing. Thanks so much for this note, which I have forwarded to my
wife.  It is fantastic!

Carla (my wife) and Anika (my daughter) were in hospital for three days
after the birth because it was through Caesarean section. Since then we
have had many visitors (including both sets of grandparents visiting
twice and all of Carla's best friends).  We have not had a banquet
yet... but Li Ping and his family came over last weekend!  I have had
some time off work, but am now back (until Christmas, which comes in
just three weeks' time!)

Thanks again for the message.  It's been great to hear your thoughts
during your stay and to have you as part of the SPRU community.

Best wishes,
Adrian

Dear XX
I heard that your second daughter was born. congratulations.

In China, once a woman give birth to a baby, she will stay in bed for one
month, some place for 100 days, it called zuo yue zi. in the first three
days, only the mother and the mother-in-law and husband can enter the room
where the baby and mother are in. three days later, aunts from mother side
and father side can enter the room. in one month, there will be a banquet
for celebration of a new baby, all relatives will send some presents to the
new baby. and then all neighbor can enter the visit to see hello to the new
baby. and then mother will return to her mother's home, her mother will
take care of her and the baby.

is it the same in England? how do you celebrate the coming of your
daughter?

Best wishes,
Yuxian
