Copy editing is lacking even for good journals

I like Progress in Oceanography, as you can tell from my earlier Blog: Introducing "Progress in Oceanography" (IF: 3.582).
I noticed some progress, such as the "Just-in-time" definition, which is really useful when the abbreviation is long (not so long in the example given below).
Example:
Old way: The sea-surface temperature (SST) in the equatorial Pacific Ocean is cooling down right now.
New way (Just-in-time): The SST (sea-surface temperature) in the equatorial Pacific Ocean is cooling down right now.
On the other hand, the copy editing of the journal is no longer as professional as many years ago. (Maybe the journal no longer uses copy editors?) I extracted one page to support my observation (see the uploaded file below): The same abbreviation is defined twice.
