Introducing "Progress in Oceanography" (IF: 3.582)

My first English paper was published in  Progress in Oceanography in 1992, as a co-author. My adviser chose the journal because: 1) our paper was long, and 2) there was no page charge. I still remember the calls from England, with strong British accent: "Miss. Y(o)u?" And pages and pages of proof came through the fax machine. The manuscript was re-typed by tech editor in England, and we had to correct their "typos."

I just went to the journal website because a colleague recommended a paper published in Progress in Oceanography. The writing of this particular paper is less than perfect, which I will comment on in another Blog. Still, it's a good journal, so here it is.

"Progress in Oceanography publishes the longer, more comprehensive papers that most oceanographers feel are necessary, on occasion, to do justice to their work. Contributions are generally either a review of an aspect of oceanography or a treatise on an expanding oceanographic subject. The articles cover the entire spectrum of disciplines within the science of oceanography. Occasionally volumes are devoted to collections of papers and conference proceedings of exceptional interest. Essential reading for all oceanographers."
