收到朋友俄國Ioffe所Ivchenko在英國做教授的學生Kavokin的郵件, 說他負責幫助俄羅斯教育部在克里米亞舉辦一個Science of Future: Science of the Young: Forum in Crimea的論壇，邀請主要演講者，俄政府提供所有路費和生活費等。在下回答：這在我看來是普京（佔領克里米亞）的宣傳行動，參加這一行動意味著政治聲明。我建議學者當反對被如此利用。由於是在有190多個成員的Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics中群發的，引來了不少回覆。
在這些回覆中，明顯歐美的學者是強烈支持的，但是俄羅斯的學者除了不發言，有幾位提出了明確反對，有的以所谓支持当地民众的“理由”支持该论坛，更有以學術和政治當分開，學術像奥林匹克一样，只讲质量云云。Ivchenko雖沒有直接評述我的郵件，卻明確表示參加該論壇是他的“榮耀”，表明他不僅要參加，還要去克里米亞度假的申明，體現出強烈民族主義的傾向。
在俄羅斯人的回覆中，一位俄國女學者給我的郵件卻截然不同，她對我的公開信表示感謝，並在其後的交流中提到她在大學教書的母親由於對俄羅斯教育部的洗腦做法看不下去，居然想辭職。這讓我想起了雖然Ivchenko有著強烈的民族主義情緒，熱情支持普京、懷念前蘇聯（雖然他本人是立陶宛人），但他太太卻是堅決反對普京、憎恨前蘇聯的。看來這個世界的和平還是要靠女人啊！

Good to hear from you. You are not the only one who emailed me privately to show your support. I cannot believe that someone is so stupid by using Olympic Game to compare the situation. He totally forgot the notorious 11th Olympic Game run by Hilter, the Nazi Germany. I think these people do need a history lesson.

Yes, exactly! In this new historical “experiment” we see again and again that people did not learn anything.
BTW my mum teaches in a University in Ekaterinburg (Russia), and she regularly tells me how “concerned” the Russian Ministry of Education (which is organizing the event in Crimea) about education and young scientists etc. in reality. She is even thinking of resigning because she can not see it any more..
