读到科技论文标题显著影响论文下载量和引用率一文,不禁想起我曾经的一个夭折的“研究”。
曾不止一次听说短题名的论文更容易获得高的被引次数,在2010年上半年的一次编委会上再次听到类似的观点后,我决定挑选几种不同学科的期刊,试图分析论文被引次数与论文题名长度的相关性。遗憾的是,通过多种方法对不同学科期刊的“尝试”结果表明,论文题名的长度与论文的被引用次数似乎没有多大相关性。
附件为2006年以来Cell中被引次数位居前20位的论文题名,这些题名的实词数变化于2至12个,平均实词数为6.7。
