科学网有位博主发表一博文《通讯作者该放什么位置?》对导师(PI)在论文中所处的位置谈了自己的看法,并上纲上线指出“如果很多文章都自己既是第一作者又是通讯作者,就会让人严重怀疑这个导师的人品”。得到了很多网友的支持(32位推荐,点击5000多次),我不知道这位博主是学生或是导师。但他的一些观点我是严重地不同意。就拿我来说吧,我是搞理论研究的,我写的很多文章自己既是第一作者又是通讯作者。在这位博主看来,我既不该是第一作者,也不该是通讯作者,否则人品有问题。
象我所从事的大气动力学研究,需要坚实的数理基础和多年的积累,没有十,八年的积累,很难写出高水平的论文,也很难在国外发表。以前我在国外发表的很多论文很多都是独立作者(05年以前),都是我独立完成的。后来一些老师建议我,发表文章时,即便学生没有干什么活或干一点小活(查文献或画一两幅图),也要把学生名字挂上,这样一来学生好毕业,二来可以反映你的团队强大。当时我并没同意,担心受到误会,说不清。现在的学生动不动就攻击导师。如果把学生的名字放在第二作者,怕别人认为我是侵占学生的成果。果不其然,上次我把我的论文清单发在网上(科学网),受到很多网友(可能是学生)的质疑,怀疑我是有侵占学生成果的嫌疑。我早就不在乎论文数量了,学生发的毕业论文我是不愿署名的,我也给我的很多学生说过,你们发的论文可以不署我的名,但我可以帮你们修改,发表费我也可以给你们出。但学生不愿意,认为我是不是看不起他/她们的工作。现在中国是论文满天飞,我只是希望我不要发太多的论文而已,一年出一两篇或几篇就行了。
在我们这个领域,在国外发表论文是很慢的,从投稿到发表至少需要一年的时间。单位规定,博士毕业至少需要一篇SCI(学生必须是第二作者或第一作者),否则就不能按期毕业找到工作。没办法我只好把学生挂在第二的位置上,叫她/他们干一点辅助性的工作。当然在我的有些论文中,学生一点活没干的也有。只要学生愿意作一些辅助性工作,或参与讨论或画图,我也会把他/她们的名字放在论文中。当然,不可能叫他/她们当第一作者或通讯作者。他/她们自己的论文随便当什么作者都行。
