Dear colleague, The IEEE 7th International Symposium on Metallic Multilayers (MML2010) will be held from Sep 19-24, 2010 in Berkeley CA, USA. The conference topics cover a wide range of aspects of fundamental magnetic material properties relevant to both a fundamental understanding as well as technological applications of such low dimensional systems. Scientific topics include - spin injection, spin torque effects and spin dependent tunneling - spin excitations and ultrafast spin dynamics - magnetic nanostructures, magnetic recording and patterned media - complex heterostructures and multiferroic materials - nano-biomagnetism and other novel applications. The structure of the symposium will be a single session style with invited talks given by world leading experts from research institutes, universities and industry. There will be extensive poster sessions, where attendants and particularly early career scientists and students are encouraged to present their work related to the fields covered by the MML2010. Abstract submission for the MML2010 is now open until February 28, 2010. More information how to submit an abstract can be found at http://mml2010.lbl.gov/ Student support The IEEE Magnetics Society and the IEEE Oakland East Bay Section provide limited financial support for students planning to attend the conference. More information on the application process can be found at http://mml2010.lbl.gov/ Accommodation The conference will take place at the Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center in Berkeley CA. Room rates are $111/night. Please make your reservations early through the conference website http://mml2010.lbl.gov/ to secure your accommodation for the conference. We look forward to welcome you to the MML2010 in Berkeley. For the organizing committee Peter Fischer (Chair) Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory peter.fischer@ieee.org
