《孟子·滕文公下》：“富贵不能淫，贫贱不能移，威武不能屈，此之谓大丈夫。”有人将孟子的话“富贵不能淫，贫贱不能移，威武不能屈”译为“Immune to temptations, poverty can not be changed, not to be subdued by force”，“大丈夫”译为“real man”（“Big husband”似不合适）。因为拷贝网络上的材料，初未注意，后经刘全慧 兄指出，发现这个翻译有点差劲。

查理雅各（James Legge）对《四书》的翻译，原句是这样译的：……to be above the power of riches and honours to make dissipated, of poverty and mean condition to make swerve from principle, and of power and force to make bend: these characteristics constitute the great man.
