First Sino-France Marine Microbial Food Web Workshop

During 3-7 May, Prof. Michel Denis and Prof. Gerald Gregori from CNRS (France) visited the Marine Microbial Ecology group (PI: Prof. Tian Xiao) in the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The two sides have same research interests in the pelagic microbial food webs. They have good professional background in picoplankton and microzooplankton, respectively. After about 10 years contact, personal exchange and cooperation, they formally named their scientific cooperation as ‘Sino-France Marine Microbial Food Web Workshop’.

They introduced their work in the last 5 years and future development. Both sides wish to further their cooperation in the study of structure of microbial food webs, high frequency monitoring, biological production and its transfer to hightrophic levels. This year, they will apply for the CNRS-NSFC exchange program.

          The two guests also visited the Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology and National Deep Sea Center. Impressed by the national effort and the rapid improvement in  marine research, they recommended international professorship to attract foreign intellectuals.

第一届中法海洋浮游微食物网研讨会

  2016年5月3日-7日，来自法国CNRS地中海大学的MichelDenis和GeraldGregori教授访问中国科学院海洋研究所肖天研究员海洋微型生物生态课题组。由于双方具有共同的研究兴趣，在海洋浮游微食物网各生物类群研究能力互补，并已有10余年的合作基础，双方正式确立今后双方的交流活动为“中法海洋浮游微食物网研讨会（Sino-FranceMarine Microbial Food Web Workshop）”，这次为第一届。

  双方通过报告的形式交流了各自课题组在最近5年的研究成果和未来的研究计划。双方将合作研究海洋浮游微食物网的结构、高频监测、生物生产和物质流动。今年将合作申请自然科学基金(NSFC)和法国科研中心（CNRS）资助课题。

  两位法国教授还参观了青岛海洋与技术国家实验室和国家深海基地管理中心，他们对中国对海洋的重视和海洋科研能力的提升印象深刻，建议海洋国家实验室设立外国专家岗位，方便外国科学家来华工作。
