=============================================
Medullosa noei (Delevoryas,1955) is one of most common Pennsylvenian species [323 to 290 million years before present—(BP);Pennsylvenian属于晚石炭纪,距今3.23----2.90亿年]。The scientific name was given largely in honor of Adolph Carl Noé(1873—1939), who was one of the pioneers of coal ball studies in North America in the early 1920s. The suggested reconstruction of Medullosa noei (12 to 15 feet high) looks like a huge and beautiful umbrella, which is one of my favorite palaeobotanical drawings. --Qigao Sun
