Yet another shout out about the Brookhaven Retirement Community in Lexington, MA
Four days ago, my wife Sophia had an episode of "vertigo" with symptoms of dizziness and vomiting (don't be influenced by the well-known movie of the same name. It does not mean fear of heights). We first of course consulted the on site health center of this community with a nurse practitioner (NP). The episode passed. For the next three days the NP called up everyday to check on Sophia until she has seen her primary care provider doctor and tests are being conducted (can you imagine the same kind of or better care than living in your own home alone with adult children not nearby?).
No wonder Brookhaven is rated among the top ten of such organizations in the US. Unless you really want solitude, such living style is surely the coming ways for seniors. In current China with an inverted population (four grandparents, two parents and a single child) this has also to be the solution, Furthermore, there are the many other tax, cost, and activity advantages I mentioned in several previous articles about retirement community living.
