Readers of my blog pages know that I arrived in the US alone at age of 16 with nothing except the promise of a good education and became independent at 19. For the succeeding 73 years since 1953 I managed my personal, financial, and career life successfully and now happily retired in an excellent Continuous Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with my wife enjoying a family of 16 with four generations in our golden years. You may ask how I lived my life all these years. My answer: I live by following two life axioms. First: Lucks favor the prepared. Second: Happiness is an empty to-do-list or a positive derivative. I don’t necessarily recommend these for everyone. First of all, being prepared means you are often STRESSED. The second axiom means you are always striving to finish some task in order to enjoy brief happiness. Life is full of peaks and valleys. Some others may find a more tranquil life far more livable and know how to put things beyond ones control at least temporarily out-of-mind. I fully respect such choice and even sometimes wish I can learn to do that. For example, my loving wife of 68 years knows nothing about money matters and trusts my management completely. On the other hand she is NOT a lavish spender and lives with a refugee mentality. Thus, I never question her spending habit, let her manage the social and community life of our family, and supports her life as a professional volunteer for public and community service. We both believe in giving back for the good and constantly improving and long lives we have experienced here in the US. WE ARE A MOST LUCKY AND COMPATIBLE COUPLE!!
