     1976年12月，位于法国南部的蒙彼利埃大学的植物学教授Louis Grambast (1927--1976)去世，年仅49岁。

      Louis Grambast于1927年出生于巴黎。1950年获得学士学位，后供职于法国国家科学研究中心[ Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS-- The French National Center for Scientific Research)]，跟随古植物学家édouard Léon François Boureau（1913--1999）学习。20世纪50年代初，Louis Grambast主要研究产自巴黎盆地渐新世(Oligocene)地层的植物群。之后，他研究过裸子植物化石木的解剖学结构和系统演化。但是，Louis Grambast很快聚焦轮藻门植物化石(Charophyta)的研究，发表了很多论文。

      1958年，Louis Grambast获得自然科学博士学位。1961年，Louis Grambast开始供职蒙彼利埃大学，创建了他的古植物学实验室。1976年，Louis Grambast去世后，他的学术工作主要由他的学生Jean Galtier (1940--)继承。关于Louis Grambast的学习和工作经历，请参看édouard Léon François Boureau于1979年发表的悼文。

--1927: Born in Paris on January 23, 1927;

--1950: Received B.S. degree;

--1952—1958: Became a researcher of CNRS (Centre national de la recherchescientifique -- The French National Center for Scientific Research);

--1958: Received Doctor of Natural Science;

-- Faculty of Sciences Paris;

--1961: Faculty of Sciences, the University of Montpellier;

--1970: It is under the direction of Louis Grambast (1927--1976) that Jean Galtier (1940--) finish his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Recherches sur les végétaux à structure conservée du Carbonifère inférieur français” ;

--1976: Died at age of 49 on December 13, 1976.
