彭恒武先生去世的消息，让我想起了Max Born，以及她的那个宝贝外孙女Olivia Newton-John。
如果对量子力学和现代科学没兴趣，不知道获得过诺贝尔物理学的Max Born没关系,但是要是不知道Max Born的那个比他还有名的宝贝外孙女Olivia Newton-John，那实在是太遗憾了。
Olivia于1948年生于英国剑桥，5岁时随父母移居澳大利亚墨尔本。她是澳大利亚最有名的歌星和电影明星，在美国和欧洲也同样非常有名，绝不亚于曾是Tom Cruise之妻的同是是澳大利亚人的奥斯卡影后Nicole Kidman。作为最具国际影响的澳大利亚歌星，她在2000年的悉尼奥运会开幕式上为全球几十亿观众演唱，并且高举奥运火炬。

Olivia最有名的电影是1978年与John Travolta一起主演的描写高中生的音乐剧电影Grease. Grease本身是非常成功的百老汇音乐剧，该剧完全是美国式的，而不是象Andrew Llyod Webber那种英国式的音乐剧。该剧于1972年2月14日情人节那天在纽约百老汇首演，一共连续演了破纪录的3388场；后来于1994年5月11日又在百老汇重演，又连续演了1505场。可以说是空前成功的美国经典。
Olivia和Travolta都不是Grease一剧的百老汇原班演员。因为Olivia无法改变其澳大利亚口音，电影Grease中将Olivia扮演的女主角由土生土长的美国女孩Sandy Dumbrowski，变成了从澳大利亚转学来的女生Sandy Olsen. 而电影中也专为Olivia写了两首原百老汇版本中没有的两首歌，其中包括Olivia最为出名那首Hopelessly Devoted To You. 电影Grease与百老汇版本的不同，仍然无法阻挡其巨大成功。电影Grease至今仍是所有音乐剧电影中票房最为成功的一部，而且其中的很多歌曲都脍炙人口。Olivia出演电影中17岁的高中生Sandy Olsen时已经30岁，她的演出还是非常地成功。
Olivia最为迷人之处，是她集Innocence和Sexy于一身，健康而且向上。她的那首Hopelessly Devoted To You，完美地表述了一个健康向上的17岁女孩在失恋中的矛盾心情。不能想象任何其他人能做到同样地完美。所以，这首Hopelessly Devoted To You也成为Olivia的保留曲目和All time classic love song.
1998年，为了纪念电影Grease首映20周年，Paramount公司又在美国全国影院重新发行Grease。虽然已经看过多次录像，我当时又专门和太太一起去电影院观看。2006年，美国电影学院（American Film Institute）将Grease评为最有优秀的音乐剧电影的第20名。
在Grease之前，Olivia还有一首很有名的MTV歌曲Let's Get Physical。这首歌歌词乍一看比较暧昧，但MTV中却讲的是健身房中的健身操运动。很像国内前些年的那首春晚上的“屁股扭扭”那首健身歌。70年代，西方就是流行健身操之类的，以反战的女星Jane Fonda为大姐大。

Olivia与乳腺癌防治
Olivia在80年代曾和乳腺癌斗争，是乳腺癌的幸存者。所以，Olivia康复后也致力于宣传乳腺癌和其它癌症的防治及早期检查，不遗余力。在Olivia的官方网站中，她说：
“I am committed and excited about educating and encouraging women to take a positive role in their breast health.”
为了这一事业，Olivia现在近60岁了还在做全球巡演。
