Job Responsibilities:
Organize and sometimes acquire high quality topical and special issues, by pro-actively analyzing possible topics and by approaching guest editors and potential authors, in line with agreements and policies as set by the publisher, in order to improve overall journal quality.
The job will be located in our Beijing office, and will focus on the daily operations of Elsevier’s international journals. International communication by email and phone will happen on a daily basis. We need well-organized people, who can work independently and have excellent English skills.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in Science preferred
- EXCELLENT ENGLISH; written and spoken
- Able to work under time pressure
- Highly independent
- Not shy; will need to talk over the phone with scientists worldwide
- Able to work across cultures
- Some knowledge of academic journals; some experience with (scientific) publishing, e.g. published a paper, worked as assistant editor
- Practical and well-organized. Has to demonstrate experience with organizing complex operations or events
