由眼拙的系统工程到各类工程——“工程”反被“engineerings”误

此前博文对“systems engineering”的汉译“系统工程”进行了质疑，本文重点对“工程”的英译进行探讨。
以水利、水电工程为例，hydraulic engineerings、hydropower engineerings，百度之下，书刊标题、正文中不绝于目。比如，中国水利水电出版社2004出版的《水利水电工程招标投标运作指南(Guidelines: Call for Tender and Tendering of Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineerings) 》封面名称。
然而，engineering作“工程”解释时，是不可数名词，无复数形式。
现手工摘录两本词典的诠释：
1.纯英文版《Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English》(1995年版，外语教学与研究出版社)：n [U] the profession and activity of designing the way roads, bridges, machines etc are built.
2.新时代英汉大词典（2006,商务印务馆）：n [U] 1 工程；工程学 2 设计；制造工艺；技术设备 3 策划；操纵；指挥；管理
注：尽管我手头有几本英文原版大部头词典扫描版，但束之高阁、高卧于光盘之中。因时间关系，没有核对更多的英文词典。有些不足的是，近在身旁、端坐于书架的秦砖版《英汉大词典》（非寻常大小砖头可争，长城砖有得一比）中未标是否可数。当然，词汇是与时俱进的，英文武库中或许顺应了中华大地对于各路“工程”的强劲需求，增加了engineerings也说不定。
附：百度词典检索提供的例句（从来源可以看出清一色的中国特色）:（提醒：以下英文可能有bug，切勿简单模仿）
1.The software at present has been applied in some rock engineerings.
目前的软件已在一些工程中得到应用。
2.A good many of satisfactory results of image processing have been achieved in many practical engineerings.
在实际应用中获得了令人满意的图像处理结果。
3.The article also offers application samples of polypropylene fiber concrete used for various waterproof engineerings.
文中还介绍了聚丙烯纤维混凝土在各类防水工程中的应用实例。
