Pride and Prejudice
Boston area had one foot or more wet snow last night. Thus almost everything is closed or grind to a halt today. However, Harvard traditionally never close in her 300 years of history except once in the 70s when the whole State shut down for a week due to an unprecedented snow storm. Anyway a talk with the above title was still scheduled for this afternoon. I had plan to go. But with shoveling snow, lack of parking, and my old body of more than 85 year, I decided not to venture out. Here is my one sentence summary of what this talk is all about based on the announcement of the talk (The title is of course a play on this famous novel of the Bronte sisters).
Pride is patriotism while Prejudice is nationalism (America first as Trump would say).
We salute the first but not the second.
