     In  thepresent study, the kinetics and mechanism of the initial hydriding step, i.e.the step involving the spread of hydride nuclei on the surface of the metal,were determined.  

   The velocity of growth of individual nucleiUs (where s denotes the surface stage) was measured (under given reactionconditions)  【单个核生长的速率】 utilizing a hot stagemicroscope (HSM) equipped with a video camera.

    The pressure-temperature dependence ofthese growth velocities, Us(P,T), were determined and accounted for qualitatively by a proposed mechanism. It has been concluded that the rate-determing step for the initialhydride growthis associated with the chemisorption of hydrogen on solid surface.  【化学吸附是否一定牵涉解离?】
