The ability to deal with disasters and other exceptional situations has become increasingly important over the past years, since the probability of their occurrence is increasing as is their impact. This has resulted in a substantial boost of research activity in this broad and complex field. This Second International Conference on Evacuation Modeling and Management (ICEM ‘11) brings together researchers dealing with the development of theory, models and (simulation) tools to explain, predict, and control dynamic traffic flow operations in case of emergency evacuation. The objective is to synthesize knowledge and insights from the fields of traffic flow theory, behavioral modeling, emergency psychology, and systems and (optimal) control. We kindly invite researchers from the various fields to share their expertise in this new research stream in transportation network dynamics. Specific topics of interest are:• Dynamic evacuation demand estimation Click here to submit
