        上次说有些英文歌不好理解，原因有不少，但具体到这首歌而言，还有一个重要原因是受到网上水平不一的翻译的影响所致，因为根据网上翻译，确是说不通或难理解的。

        下面就网上的几个翻译版本进行分析，一个是百度里的，两个是虾米音乐里的，还有一个是音悦台的中英对照版本。

        这四个版本对于歌曲名称和歌曲中多次出现的“shot in the dark”无一例外都译错了。

        “shot in the dark”虽然根据其单词一字一字可译为“暗夜放枪（或射箭）、暗中放枪（或射箭）、瞎放乱射”，但是作为一个完整的习语，并没有这个意思。其习语的意思有两种：

        1、a wild guess; a random conjecture; A wild, unsubstantiated guess （胡乱猜测或盲目猜测）；

        2、an attempt that has little chance of success; An act whose outcomecannot be foreseen（成功机会渺茫的尝试，后果难以逆料的行动，没有胜算的努力，孤注一掷，甚至可理解为死马当活马医）

        因为这首歌整体上是表达失恋之后孤独无助、一种绝望而又心有不甘的心情，因此，译为“盲目猜测”显然有误。译为“夜里一声枪响”或“黑暗中一声枪响”或“看不到的一击”、“随意的一击”、“另有企图的一击”、“盲目的一击”、“恣意的一击”、“随意的一击”均不符合歌曲意思。

        也就是说，将“shot inthe dark”译为“孤注一掷”才算基本符合原义。

        此外，“Cause your soul is on fire / A shot in the dark / What did they aim for when they missed your heart”这里如果将“What did they aim for when they missed your heart”根据将“shot in the dark”译为“夜里一声枪响”而理解为是枪没打中对方的心，不仅暴力，而且也不符合歌曲表达的意思。难道恋爱不成，还要杀人灭口？这里的“they”也非第三方，而是所作的挽回的努力和行动，这里的意思是“努力或行动如果错失你心，他们还能指向何处呢？”

        还有一处：“I breathe underwater”为歌曲中常用意象，水中呼吸，指呼吸困难或无法呼吸，亦指随时有灭顶之危险。

        以下综合上述翻译，纠正若干有问题的地方：
