Fred Schneider has been elevated to IEEE Fellow, effective 1 January 2009, with the following citation: for contributions to trustworthy computing, fault-tolerance and formal methods.

Each year, following a rigorous evaluation procedure, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for one of the Institutes most prestigious honors, elevation to IEEE Fellow.

My research is intended to support the construction of concurrent and distributed systems for high-integrity and mission-critical settings. Fault-tolerance and security are critical in such settings.
