1.自己的花园。  天上绝不会下玫瑰雨——如果要更多的玫瑰，我们就必须亲手种植。It never will rain roses:when we want to have more roses we must plant trees.

2.不仅仅看上去很美。  既有诱惑性，又有庄严感，这就是美。Beauty is that which is simultaneously attractive and sublime.

3.艺术的想象与真实。  蒙娜丽莎是唯一穿越历史而声名不衰的美人。Mona Lisa is the only beauty who went through history and retained her reputation.

4.怀念一种陌生和好奇。  同样是看见彩虹，却激发不出我们象野蛮人心目中曾经激发出的那种崇敬感：因为我们已经知晓了彩虹的成因。在探索事物的过程中，我们的得与失，是一样的多。We have not the reverent feeling for the rainbow that a savage has, because we know how it is made. We have lost as much as we gained by prying into that matter. 

5.心理断奶。  心理上的脐带比生理上的脐带要难剪得多。The psychological umbilical cord is more difficult to cut than the real one.

6.树叶里面的《圣经》。  上帝把复活的承诺，不仅写在书本里，而且也写在春天的每一片树叶上。Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection,not in books alone,but in every leaf in springtime.

7.被瓦解被分割后的必然。  一滴水尽管具有大海的性质，但它毕竟不能展示出暴风雨的壮观。A drop of water has the properties of the sea,but cannot exhibit a storm.
