纪念尤金·加菲尔德（1925-2017）

Science Citation Index has inspired many generations of scientists, researchers, and far beyond. Here I humbly created three visualizations in memory of the legendary giant.

The data was collected two hours ago from the Web of Science[*] with an author search for Garfield, E. After a simple name disambiguation, the dataset has 954 publications with Gene Garfield as author or coauthor. The h-index of the set is 136 with an average citation of 5.5 per paper.

The 954 publications have been subsequently cited by 3,409 publications indexed in the Web of Science. I did not remove self-citations, which would lead to 3,154 publications, because in general I do not think removing self-citations in this kind of analysis is justifiable. The three visualizations are all dual-map overlays. Two are enhanced by z-score bundles. See captions for detail.
