Neurotoxin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Neurotoxins are substances that are poisonous or destructive to nerve tissue.[3] Neurotoxins are an extensive class of exogenous chemicalneurological insults[4] that can adversely affect function in both developing and mature nervous tissue.[5] The term can also be used to classify endogenous compounds, which, when abnormally contact , can prove neurologically toxic.[4] Though neurotoxins are often neurologically destructive, their ability to specifically target neural components is important in the study of nervous systems.[6] Common examples of neurotoxins include lead,[7] ethanol(drinking alcohol), Manganese[8] glutamate,[9] nitric oxide (NO),[10] botulinum toxin (e.g. Botox),[11] tetanus toxin,[12] and tetrodotoxin.[6] Some substances such as nitric oxide and glutamate are in fact essential for proper function of the body and only exert neurotoxic effects at excessive concentrations.

对neurotoxin与nerve gases进行了区分。
neurotoxin(神经毒素)
A neurotoxin was any form of chemical that affected a victim's nervous system and targeted neural components, oftentimes destroying them. The Dug King Sebolto's drug cartel added neurotoxins to the Bando Gora's death sticks, which made them more potent and addictive.[1]
nerve gases(神经性毒气)
Nerve gas was a deadly toxin capable of killing those who inhaled it within minutes. Natasi Daala used this to execute the Imperial warlords at Tsoss Beacon in 12 ABY.
