For the first time in Harvard’s history, more than 30,000 students applied to the College, leading to an admission rate of 6.9 percent for the Class of 2014. Letters of admission and e-mail notifications were sent on April 1 to 2,110 of the 30,489 applicants. （录取比例比较低）

Students’ academic interests shifted somewhat this year. Nearly one-quarter (24.9 percent) of the admitted students intend to concentrate in the humanities, compared with 22.7 percent last year.
