Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the Conference Organising Committee, we would like to inform you of the:

UBIQUITOUS LEARNING CONFERENCE
Illini Center, University of Illinois, Chicago, USA
17-19 November 2008
http://www.ULConference.com

The Ubiquitous Learning Conference investigates the uses of technologies in learning, including devices with sophisticated computing and networking capacities which are now pervasively part of our everyday lives - from laptops to mobile phones, games, digital music players, personal digital assistants and cameras. The Conference explores the possibilities of new forms of learning using these devices not only in the classroom, but in a wider range places and times than was conventionally the case for education. Ubiquitous Learning is made possible in part by the affordances of the new, digital media. What's new about it? What's not-so-new? What are the main challenges of access to these new learning opportunities? These are the key themes and concerns of the Conference.

Plenary speakers include:
    * Michel Bauwens, Foundation for Peer-to-Peer Alternatives
    * Nicholas C. Burbules, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA
    * Mary Kalantzis, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA
    * Michael A. Peters, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA

In addition, the Conference will also include numerous paper, workshop and colloquium presentations by practitioners, teachers and researchers. We would particularly like to invite you to respond to the Conference Call-for-Papers. Presenters may choose to submit written papers for publication in the fully refereed Ubiquitous Learning Journal. If you are unable to attend the Conference in person, virtual registrations are also available which allow you to submit a paper for refereeing and possible publication in this fully refereed academic Journal.

The final deadline for proposal submission (a title and short abstract) is 5 November 2008. Full details of the Conference, including an online proposal submission form, are to be found at the Conference website - http://www.ULConference.com.

We look forward to receiving your proposal and hope you will be able to join us in Chicago in November 2008.

Yours Sincerely,
M. Allison Witt
