Recently, there comes a new relationship between the professor and the student, called boss-worker relationship. This makes students become workers of professor. Their relationship is no longer pure, and the phenomenon is not good for both of professor and students. In my opinion, the ideal relationship between them is friend relation.
Firstly, friend relation is helpful for the good communication between students and professor. Students can express their creative ideas to the professor freely, just as to intimate friends, which creates the ideal environment for every student to grow and nutrient their creative capabilities. Similarly, professor can master students’ relative research advances and give some constructive proposals to students through listening to students. On the contrary, as a result of awe to professor, students can’t put out their thinking, and always are well listeners. The things students can do are to nod their heads and say “yes”.
Secondly, friend relation is helpful for the encouragement to students. As we know, our friends always encourage us, even if we make mistakes or fail. But in some schools and institutes, professor often blame students if students make a minor mistake. Blaming throws cold water on the enthusiasm of Students’ study or research, which make students feel disappointed or unhappy. Students need encouragements. No encouragement, no achievement!
Thirdly, friend relation is helpful for the maintaining of long-term relation between professor and students. After students graduate from schools or institutes, Students are bound to remember or contact the teacher who has ever been their friends. For example, I still remember and contact the teacher who told me that “success depends on the hard work of the day after tomorrow” and was my friend.
All in all, friend relation is the ideal relationship of professor and the students. I hope professor and the students can benefits a lot from the intimate relationship.
