Michelle Wu, graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, a 30 year old lawyer who was elected to Boston City Council only two years ago, was unanimously elected by her colleagues to be the President of the Boston City Council today (1/6/2016) . Wu, the daughter of Taiwanese immigrant, is the first Asian American, woman of color, and youngest person elected to that position in history. Her mentor and former professor at law school, now U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren was in attendance at her inauguration ceremony. Note: The Boston city is governed by a major similar to the position of the President for the country. The city council is similar to the Senate of the US Congress. The president of the council is thus like the leader of the Senate though less powerful.
