On Professor Rao Yi’s Science Net article and Warren Buffet’s TIME magazine cover story

“What a penetrating andinsightful analysis” was what I plan to comment on Professor Rao Yi’s articleon ScienceNet “做人”对“做事”文化：中国崛起的一大障碍. http://blog.sciencenet.cn/home.php?mod=space&uid=2237&do=blog&id=529077 ”(I happen to read by accident) But then, I was simultaneously remindedof this week’s TIME magazine cover story about Warren Buffet. Professor Rao wastalking about what is wrong with Chinese culture and the current social system thatinhibits innovation while Buffet was talking about what is currently wrong withAmerica (equally penetrating and insightful in my view).

The Rao article as of 1/19/2012 5:12 am Beijing timelogged in 7023 hits. Although I have no data, but one can safely predictreadership in the million for the Buffet article given the circulation of TIME.

In my opinion, the Rao article deserves at leastequal attention by the Chinese public. Thus, instead of just inserting acomment, I decided to assert my privilege of using my blog pages to give the Raoarticle more deserved attention and to salute Professor Rao for his courage tospeak out.
