On consumptions by the populations of the world
Years ago, I read somewhere that the average Americans consumes 50
times more resources per person than the rest of the world’s population
. From this I have long ago concluded on my own that our children or
grandchildren must adjust their life style and lower their expectations in
order for the world to continue to exist. However,unlike Professor Wang
HongFei who is always meticulous with his references and data source in
his blog, I have forgotten the source of this data. But no matter, in
todays op-ed section of the New York Times, an authority no less than
the noted Jared Diamond backed up what I feared. You are welcomed to
read “New York Times Jan 2, 2008 Op-Ed section. The article also has
implications for China.
