Everyone is aware of the benefits of physical exercise. However, in our old age, mental decline including Alzheimer disease is one big worry. This is also why I do mental exercises three times a week in addition to my physical exercises. One website LUMOSITY is what I use. The exercises consists of six video like games per day (out of fifty plus exercises) which tests your memory, mental flexibility, vocabulary, problem solving, alertness, and other mental acuity skills. The best part is the fact that the website keeps a record of your performance score so that you can be aware of your mental agility on a continuing basis. So far I am happy to say that I have kept up my score which still in the 80-90 percentile range compare to the entire population. Everyday I can score in the top five of the games record for at least one or more of the tasks tested.
Recently I became aware that the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) also has a mental exercise program called “SHARP” which helps one to train. But I have not tried it yet. If any reader has experience, please let us know.
