The vacant position is for a researcher in Business Administration, particularly International Management. The successful applicant will be either a Postdoctoral Researcher or University Researcher depending on the applicant's qualifications. The employment is for two years and will begin August 1st 2011, or on a separately agreed date.
The vacancy is in the Department of Management in the Faculty of Business Studies. The key areas of research conducted at the Department are human resource management, leadership, and strategic leadership, especially in challenging and international business enviroments. The current faculty conducts its research as a part of either The Strategy, Networks and Enterprise (SNE) research group or the Human Resources Management as a Strategic Competitive Partner research group.
The department is renowned for high quality of teaching; it was elected by the Ministry of Education as a Centre of Excellence in University Education for the period 2004-2006, and again for the period 2007-2009. The department offers Master’s programmes in Strategic Management, Human Resources Management and International Business. Additionally, the unit offers a Master's programme in Growth Enterprises, in Seinäjoki, for those already ¬in working life. The teaching duties of the vacant Postdoctoral Researcher/University Researcher position are in the EPAS accredited Master’s Degree programme in International Business.
Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements for Postdoctoral Researcher:
Tasks include independent academic research, teaching duties, and some administrative tasks, as well as supervising thesis students.
The requirements include an relevant Doctoral Degree, the ability to conduct independent scientific work, and deliver high-quality teaching in English. Applicants’ potential to advance in their academic career will be particularly valued.
Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements for University Researcher:
Tasks include independent academic research and related organisational responsibilities. The position is research oriented. A University Researcher also participates extensively in teaching and instructing in his/her field of research. The tasks include comprehensive responsibilities in research, education and university administration in the field of research.
The requirements include a relevant PhD, scientific publications of a high standard, proven skills in teaching, the ability to lead a research group, procure outside funding, manage research projects and their finances, and experience of scientific work abroad and international collaboration.
The total workload for both Postdoctoral Researcher and University Researcher is 1600 hours per annum. The duties will be arranged within the framework of the annual work plan for the staff.
To be appointed, the applicant must be fluent in English. Proficiency in the Finnish language is beneficial but not mandatory.
