诚如《Honesty is the best policy怎么翻译好？》所言，Honesty is the best policy译为“诚实（或诚信）是最好的策略（或政策）”不见得恰当。“个人的行事策略之“策略”，是tactic,也不是policy。反过来说，policy译为策略也不合适”也很有道理。但是，将这里的“policy”译为“保单”，愚意以为，也不恰当。

为什么呢?

因为Policy的基本意思是“a course or principle of action adopted or proposed by a government, party, business, or individual.”，因此，policy是一种“原则（principle）”，或者说，是一种“不可通融的准则（ rigid and unbending rules）”。

因此，我个人建议，将Honesty is the best policy译为“诚实是最佳原则”。
