IF I had a good camera and IF I had a tripod, I could probably get a close up as the last photo below (which I borrowed from the web--from web to web).
I bought this plant (similar to the one in the second photo, but shorter, and with more flowers as in the first photo) many years ago. I religiously water it once a week, but that's it. It lived, but never had flowers until Feb. this year, when I went on a trip for 10 days without using a plant sitter (to water it).
When I returned from the trip, it had flowers on! But, the flowers were gone quickly. I resumed my routine, and never thought much about it, until a week ago when it bloomed again. It's nice, I thought, and still did nothing about it. However, the flowers remain for more than one week now, and I decided to honor them by writing a Blog.
Hey, buddy, you are as tough as I am...
Euphorbia milii (Crown-of-thorns or Christ Plant) is a woody, succulent species of Euphorbia native to Madagascar. The species name commemorates Baron Milius, once governor of Réunion, who introduced the species to France in 1821.[1] It is suspected that the species was introduced to the Middle East in ancient times, and legend associates it with the crown of thorns worn by Jesus.[1]
