读了关于Ralph B. Peck 的一本书－ Engineer-Educator-A Man of Judgement》，才了解到：
他是与雪茄形影不离的 Karl Terzaghi 的最亲密同事，
他负责现场 Observation，
Karl Terzaghi 负责分析和指挥。
他是唯一获得 National Medal of Science 的岩土工程师，
Karl Terzaghi 获得了4个 Norman Medals，
但他是获得 Norman Medal 的最年轻者（31岁）。
昼夜不息的Terzaghi 年轻时曾是一个 ladies man，是一个花花公子 (a man about town)，
而他则是一个没有 e-mail 的很顾家的男人 ( family man)。
Terzaghi Library 在NGI (Norwegian Geotechnical Institute)，
Peck Library 也在NGI，真不愧曾是最亲密的同事。
他是普通人，哈哈，爱吃巧克力，是一个 Chocoholic，
还有生菜花生酱三明治 (peanut butter sandwiches with lettuce)，
而且很有厨艺(culinary front)……
