About the Symposium

成立于1989年的世界科技传播学会PCST（Public Communication of Science and Technology Network）是科技传播领域最有影响力的国际组织，旨在促进科技传播的新思想、新方法、新知识和新实践，其成员涵盖全球科学传播研究学者、科研机构宣传官员、科学教育专家、科技馆与博物馆、科技新闻与科技编辑、致力于科普的科学家、以及科学视觉与表演等领域的艺术家等等。

2024年PCST苏州国际论坛将于2024年10月17日至19日在中国苏州举行，主题为“跨文化的传播科学：方法、视角和挑战”。会议围绕当今科学传播的关键问题，如人工智能、虚假信息、科技争议、环境与健康问题等，通过跨文化的碰撞交流来深入研讨，寻求科技传播热点问题的应对思路。

2024 PCST苏州论坛由苏州大学和中国科学技术大学共同主办，论坛得到了中国科技新闻学会、澳大利亚国立大学公众科学意识中心、以及苏州市科学技术协会的支持，会议协办期刊包括Public Understanding of Science、Science Communication、Journal of Science Communication和Cultures of Science等本领域顶刊。

The world is a global community with a shared future for humanity. However, growing polarization and antagonism in today's world pose significant challenges to our world. Science communication is a primary solution to address the challenges echoing artificial intelligence, misinformation, technological controversies, environment and health across cultural contexts. We invite you to share thoughts and effective practices of science communication at local and global scales. We expect to bridge differences, alleviate confrontation, and rebuild spaces and platforms for fruitful dialogue among all parties involved in science communication worldwide.

Suzhou, a city mingling innovation and classics, is ready for the refreshing and sparkling conversation to renew our science communication community between October 17 and 19th, 2024. The event occurs at the most beautiful and enjoyable season in Suzhou Gardens.

The PCST Suzhou Symposium 2024 is organized by Soochow University (SU, Suzhou), jointly organized by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC, Hefei). The Symposium has received support from the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Journalism, the Suzhou Association for Science and Technology, and the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) at the Australian National University. Top journals Public Understanding of Science, Science Communication and Journal of Science Communication are also partners of the event.

论坛将以英文进行，鼓励各种参会形式，如研究文章、实践案例研究和科普表演。如果您有兴趣投稿，我们欢迎您在“跨文化传播科学”的主题范围内提出不超过500字的长摘要。投稿经评审后将进行现场交流。我们也会从优秀投稿中遴选部分圆桌讨论嘉宾。

该论坛由 Public Understanding of Science杂志、Science Communication杂志共同组织，并由 Public Understanding of Science主编Hans Peter Peters和 Science Communication副主编Janet Yang主持，重点讨论顶级期刊如何选择稿件，我们将为参与者提供有价值和针对性的建议。

工作坊的投稿和参会方式与其他单元一样，需提交500字摘要以供筛选，考虑到现场反馈的针对性，建议在会前一个月提交论文全文。在现场汇报之后，与会者将收到来自期刊编辑的宝贵反馈和评论。

The Symposium will be held in English. We warmly encourage diverse forms of participation, such as research articles, practical case studies, and popular science performances. If you are interested in contributing,we welcome proposals within the listed themes of 'Communicating Science across Cultures' in under 500 words.  Contributions will be reviewed and the selected ones will be scheduled for onsite presentation. Some of the participants in the plenary roundtables will be selected based on the quality of the abstracts received.

6  Academic Publishing Workshop

The workshop will be co-organized by journals Public Understanding of Science (PUS) and Science Communication (SC), which PUS editor Hans Peter Peters and SC associate editor Janet Yang will host. It will focus on how the top journals select the manuscripts that they publish. We will provide valuable and targeted advice to participants. 

The way to submit and attend the workshop is the same as other units.To apply for the workshop participation, individuals are required to submit their abstract for screening. Then a full paper is required one month before the workshop. Following on-site presentations, participants will receive valuable feedback and comments from both the journal editors.
