Linda C. Smith 教授获得美国雪城大学信息转移方向博士学位(PhD, Information Transfer, Syracuse)。

2015年春季学期主讲2门课：信息组织与获取(Info Org and Access )和信息资源与服务科学(Info Sources  and Svcs Sciences )。

研究兴趣包括：图书情报学教育，尤其擅长网络教育(Educationfor library and information science, with particular attention to onlinepedagogy)；情报学史(history of information science )；新技术对参考咨询服务和信息服务的影响(impactof new technologies on reference and information services)。

 Linda C. Smith 教授1977年在图书情报研究生院担任教师。一直从事在校研究生和远程教育研究生的教学和管理(1997年之后)。曾担任过图书情报学教育协会(the Association for Library and Information Science Education  (ALISE))和情报科学与技术协会(the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T))的主席。是美国科学促进协会会员(a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science)和伊利诺伊大学杰出学者-教授(a University of Illinois Distinguished Teacher/Scholar)。

 获得多个奖项。1998年研究生学院研究生指导卓越奖(Graduate College Excellence in Graduate  Student  Mentoring Award)。2007年在线远程教学优秀奖 (the Campus Award for Excellence  in Online & Distance Teaching  )。以及情报科学与技术协会奖(wardof Merit, 2010; Outstanding Information Science Teacher Award, 1987)和图书情报学教育协会奖(wardfor Service to ALISE, 2012; Award for Professional Contribution  to Library and Information  Science  Education, 2008; Award for Teaching Excellence, 1999)。
