Matter is one of the fundamental elements constituting the universe, possessing objective reality. Information represents a specific type of metric, which can be understood as a description of the state, quantity, properties, distribution, and other attributes of matter and energy. It serves as an "informational twin system" for material and energy systems. The essence of information can be meaning or content (or program), carrying specific knowledge or signals about matter and energy. Information and matter are interdependent. Matter serves as the carrier of information, while information reflects the state and changes of matter. Without matter, information cannot exist; without information, the state and changes of matter cannot be perceived and understood. In the digital era, information can be transformed into material forms through technological means (such as data stored on hard drives), and matter can also be converted into informational forms through information encoding (such as converting paper documents into electronic documents through scanning and digitization). There exists an interaction between information and matter. Information can regulate the state and changes of matter, while the state and changes of matter can also influence the transmission and processing of information. This interaction has broad applications in various fields such as biology, physics, and chemistry. From a philosophical perspective, the relationship between matter and information is dialectically unified. They are both distinct and interconnected, jointly constituting the essence of the world. Matter serves as the origin and foundation of the world, while information is an important driving force and manifestation of the development of the material world. Information plays a crucial role in the material world. It is not only a reflection of the state and changes of matter but also an important driving force for the development of the material world. Through the transmission and processing of information, people can perceive and understand the material world, thereby transforming and utilizing it. Recognizing and understanding the unity of matter and information helps people delve deeper into the essence and laws of the world. At the same time, it provides new perspectives and methodologies for people to perceive and transform the world, driving advancements in science and technology and the development of new qualitative productive forces.
