http://blog.sciencenet.cn/blog-1565-512682.html 3.5-4 years ago. Yesterday my second post-operative colonoscopy was done and the doctor pronounced my colon totally normal and free-and-clear of any cancer which is very good news. When I ask him when should I have my next colonoscopy, he said between five and ten years, if ever. First of all, at my age, 5-10 years may be forever. Secondly, even if the colonoscopy discovered new growth, major surgery unless absolutely necessary is usually not advised for person in his/herlate eighties or early nineties. At that age, tissue growth are usually so slow that patient often die “with cancer” rather than “of cancer”.
Once again, (for the fifth time in these pages) I am a lucky guy!
