Asian Hate, The AI intelligence revolution, my grand children’s future, The US system of government.

This is a diverse set of topics and observations based on my 70+ years of living in the US. While they are interrelated, it is difficult to weave them into a coherent and smooth essay. I’ll just mention them in a list with no particular order. Readers can draw their own connections, insights, and conclusions,

1.  Education is becoming more important everyday for a person to earn a decent living since AI is taking over more and more jobs that used to be done by humans.

2.  The US is not so good in educating her population  among developed nations. Thus more and more people becomes permanently unemployed. Even if Universal Basic Income for everyone is enacted, idled population with no useful purpose often lead to unrests and disruptions.

3.  Jobs AI still cannot do adequately are: barbers, farm labor, house and office cleaner, detail construction jobs (e.g. painting, trimming, installations), waiter in restaurants, and other low end job requiring skills beyond current AI technology.

4.  Skilled and educated immigrants are desired for immigration but invite hate by displaced white population without higher education. Recent rise in Asian hate incidents is one result.

5.  The US system of government with co-equal branches of government (Congress, Executive, and Courts) is unique with its “Checks and Balances” but cumbersome and complex in that famous Churchillian view.

6.  But why can ordinary people have the freedom and rights to just sue the government, organizations, and any law they don’t like. REASON 1: you must have “standing” (i.e., to show you have been injured or suffered damage as a result of the government, organization, laws/regulations in order to sue). Requirement of “standing” resulted in the most recent ridiculous example of a group of anti-abortion doctors who wished to ban abortion laws because of the reason – they have been denied their pleasure of delivering babies by the law. Reason 2: Gerrymandering by opposing parties when they are in power often led to denying the majority opinion of the voters (with the result that democracy doesn't really work anymore)

7.  I worry about the future of my Chinese-American native born grandchildren who will face all these issues when they become full blown crisis. Selfishly, I am glad to know that I won’t live long enough to experience the crisis when they occur.

8.  What is the government, society, and educational organizations plan to do to deal with these coming crisis?

9.  Are human beings just a transitional phase and doomed to extinction as many other species?
