PhD Position - Nanostructured metallic / ceramic multilayer thin films
One of the biggest challenges in modern society is the world’s energy supply and the partially associated climate change. Every solution to this requires dedicated materials. Tailoring the structure of materials at the nanometer scale leads to exciting properties of these materials and effects that can be used for enhancing materials used in various energy related aspects. At IEK-2 we investigate nanostructured materials down to their atomic building blocks and study how such materials work under external stimuli, such as mechanical deformation, elevated temperatures and corrosive atmospheres. Our mission not only includes the research of these topics, but we also aim to educate young scientists during their doctoral (PhD) thesis who will be tackling the relevant materials questions of tomorrow‘s society. This position will be located at Forschungszentrum Jülich, IEK-2 - the Institute for Energy and Climate Research – Microstructure and Properties of Materials.
