In the global academic community, previous European and American research has only carried out partial empirical corrections to the van ’t Hoff equation. Modified models proposed by Morse, Debye, Pitzer and other scholars are merely local parameter adjustments, series expansions and activity calibrations within the traditional classical thermodynamic framework. None of these studies have established brand-new physical mechanisms, innovative core concepts, or self-consistent theoretical systems; they are only supplementary optimizations of classical theories and have never formed subversive original scientific systems. The New Osmotic Pressure Law, which reconstructs the essential physical mechanism of osmosis, pioneers the core concept of osmotic force, defines effective and ineffective osmotic areas, explains the isobaric heteroeffect phenomenon, and perfectly resolves the anomalous osmotic behavior of concentrated solutions, is universally recognized by mainstream European and American university teaching systems, the EU EUR-ACE engineering accreditation system, and authoritative journals such as Royal Society Open Science as an entirely new fundamental theory independently initiated by a Chinese scholar. Distinguished from all traditional empirical revisions in Western academia, this complete theoretical system was officially and fully published worldwide for the first time in 2012. Reviewing the founding process of this new theory demonstrates the profound value of this indigenous Chinese scientific achievement. Since the 1960s, I have adhered to the original aspiration of embedding a Chinese-originated fundamental scientific law into global physics and chemistry textbooks. During long-term experimental research, I discovered abnormal osmotic phenomena in U-tube experiments that could not be explained by classical theories. Focusing on this century-long unsolved scientific problem, I persisted in in-depth research for decades. From pioneering the core physical concept of osmotic force, to establishing innovative academic definitions including ineffective osmotic area, effective osmotic area, and isobaric heteroeffect, and through more than ten rounds of rigorous mathematical derivation and systematic optimization of the theoretical framework, I completed the entire self-consistent and universal new osmotic pressure theoretical system after half a century of dedicated exploration and officially released it in 2012. This theoretical breakthrough is far from an accidental inspiration. It embodies the dedication, perseverance, and truth-seeking spirit of Chinese scientific researchers, representing decades of obscure and rigorous academic pursuit. As a purely indigenous original fundamental scientific discovery, this achievement bears lifelong devotion and is extremely precious. Compared with century-old traditional osmotic theories and Western empirical correction models, the New Osmotic Pressure Law fundamentally optimizes the theoretical system of solution osmosis behavior, accurately describes osmotic rules for solutions of all concentrations, breaks the application limitations of classical theories and Western revised formulas, and possesses subversive theoretical value and broad industrial application prospects in seawater desalination, atmospheric-pressure osmotic power generation, biomembrane transmission, chemical separation and other fields. In recent years, European and American scholars have successively proposed revised osmotic pressure formulas. Detailed line-by-line comparison confirms that the core denominator correction structure adopted in the latest Western revised formulas is completely consistent with the landmark original denominator structure of my formula. Western researchers only retain the traditional dilute-solution model at the molecular end and introduce dynamic empirical fitting factors, without citing the original source or completing standard theoretical tracing, which violates international academic integrity principles. This letter is formally issued to clarify scientific discovery ownership, safeguard academic originality, and correct tracing deviations in international academia. 2. Structural Ownership FactsThe core denominator correction structure shared by both formulas is a globally pioneering and independently original design proposed exclusively by me. Before my official publication in 2012, no identical structure or mechanical mechanism had ever been recorded in international academic literature. Western academia only reused my original core denominator structure and superimposed traditional thermodynamic expressions and dynamic fitting variables, which is essentially secondary transformation and appropriation of Chinese original core academic achievements.3. Strictly distinguish mechanism-derived original theoretical formulas from multi-variable empirical fitting formulas, and fully recognize their essential differences in physical mechanism, mathematical completeness and theoretical hierarchy.
Officially confirm the Chinese original ownership of the core denominator correction structure and the complete new osmotic pressure theoretical system, and correct the existing academic tracing deviations in global academia.
Gradually phase out Western backward empirical correction formulas with incomplete logic, dual-variable fitting, limited application scope and weak scientificity.
Prioritize the adoption of this Chinese original universal osmotic pressure formula with consistent logic, verified experiments and real atmospheric pressure effects in global scientific research, university teaching and industrial standard revision.
Standardize the global academic citation system; complete citation of the original Chinese source and pioneering publication shall be required when this original core structure and theoretical system are adopted worldwide.
