昨天读了一篇英文文章《Is google making us stupid?》本人英文水平有限，虽不能完全理解，但是感觉不错。摘录如下：

（1）现在的Web浏览，让人逐渐失去集中沉思的能力。And what the Net seems to be doing is chipping away my capacity for concentration and contemplation. Once I was a scuba diver in the sea of words. Now I zip along the surface like a guy on a Jet Ski.

（2）文中将那些能够提高我们脑力的工具称为“知性技术”。特别指出，钟表的发明。the clock “disassociated time from human events and helped create the belief in an independent world of mathematically measurable sequences.” The “abstract framework of divided time” became “the point of reference for both action and thought.” 同样，我认为，当今的互联网剥去了人的空间属性，然后试图把所有的人都吸进这个虚拟世界。

（3）文中指出Google正在做120多年前Frederick Winslow Taylor在工业革命期间所做的，不过Google的对象是互联网上从事脑力劳动的人们。（Frederick Winslow Taylor写了著名的《科学管理原理》）

（4）文中提到了苏格拉底对“文字书写”的担忧，He feared that, as people came to rely on the written word as a substitute for the knowledge they used to carry inside their heads, they would, in the words of one of the dialogue’s characters, “cease to exercise their memory and become forgetful.” 还提到15世纪哲学家对“活字印刷术”的反对等等。指出历史上从来就不缺少新技术的反对者。

有趣的是，我也正如文中描述的当前Web阅览的现状，先是阅读一篇论文，在论文中出现引用的时候，通过Web找到它的参考文献，然后因为用Google查询该参考文献摘要中出现的几个术语而搜到这篇文章。然后，我就开始读这篇文章了。:)

以笔记之，也算是对博客管理的一个警示。
