As a student from China University of Geosciences (abbreviation: CUG as follow), a few types of stones are familiar to me, for example, fossil, jewellery and so on. So my topic today is “Beautiful stones”. I will introduce four types of beautiful stones as follow:
Its name is Chrysanthemum stone because it looks like chrysanthemum (white part in the picture), these stones are usually curved into artware like these. Look at the big picture, you will find a cat in your right hand, It is too infrequent and interesting!

This picture is from the Yifu museum of CUG, The fossil is named as sea lily stone because of its shape like "lily". Perhaps you think it is a plant, but that’s not true, it is a simple animal lived 230 million years ago. this is the most intact fossil in the world with an area of 15 square meters. Next picture is about fossil wood of CUG.

This wood composes of over 70 fossil trees (also called silicon tree), lived about 100-200 million years ago. They were instantaneously buried with muddy and sands, and fossil trees formed after the placement of organ material in the trees with silicon dioxide. Some fossil trees (like these) look like agate (a type of jewellery), many people like it.

Perhaps everybody is familiar with jewellery, such as crystal, diamond, ruby, sapphire and so on. Here is the jewelery house of YiFu museum in CUG. In these pictures, some of them are raw materials for jewellery, like these mineral crystals. A great deal of artware form through jade carving, for example, Jade pig, elephant, bracelet and necklace, etc.
In fact, these beautiful stones (above-mentioned) are just common stones with chemical elements and crystal structures. But the difference is that they have a beautiful color or intact crystallization or high transparency.
