德国植物学家和古生物学家Anton Sprengel (1803--1851)

        19世纪德国植物学家和古生物学家Anton Sprengel (1803--1851)于1803年出生于Halle (Saale)。其父为德国植物学家和医生Kurt (Curt) Polycarp Joachim Sprengel (1766--1833)，曾就读于Halle大学(Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg)，后在母校担任药学教授，1791年当选为德国科学院院士(Member of the German Academy of Sciences--Leopoldian)，1810年当选为瑞典皇家科学院外籍院士(Foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences)。

       1825年，Anton Sprengel就读于Halle大学，1828年完成博士学位。学位论文首次研究了产自德国萨克森州(Saxony, Germany)开姆尼茨二叠纪地层的化石木(Chemnitz fossil wood)--树蕨(Psaronius tree ferns)，参见：

Sprengel, Antonio, 1828. Commentatio de Psarolitnis, ligni fossiiis fenere: 42 p., 1 pi., Halae.

       1829年，Anton Sprengel子承父业，开始供职于Halle大学。他的科学研究范围包括蕨类植物、藻类和化石。

       1848年普鲁士和丹麦爆发军事冲突，起因为Schleswig-Holstein的领土归属问题。Anton Sprengel参战，1851年在Schleswig-Holstein的一个小镇Rendsburgzhi军队医院不幸离世，年仅48岁。

--1803: Born in Halle, Germany [Father—German botanist and physician Kurt (Curt) Polycarp Joachim Sprengel (1766--1833)，elected member of the German Academy of Sciences—Leopoldian in 1791, and foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1810];

--1825: Attended the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg;

--1828: Published doctorate dissertation, entitled “Commentatio de Psarolitnis, ligni fossiiis fenere.” This is the first scientific paper about Psaronius tree ferns from Chemnitz;

--1829: Hired by the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg;

--1848: The first Schleswig-Holstein war broke out in 1848, and then Anton Sprengel entered into the war;

--1851:  Anton Sprengel died at age of 48 in a military hospital of Rendsburgzhi, a small town of Schleswig-Holstein.
