Halloween, the Holiday of Candy by Tanya (2214 bytes) Posted by: 立委 Date: February 04, 2008 11:37AM
On October 31, as the sky darkens and nocturnal animals can be heard, my friends and I are prowling the neighborhood street in our fantastic costumes of all shapes and sizes in search for candy and decorations. What we will find, we do not know, but we all feel that this will be the Halloween we were all waiting for. Although there are many holidays in existence, Halloween is my favorite, especially because of the Trick-or-Treating, wearing costumes, and seeing friends.
One of the most important events of Halloween is Trick-or-Treating. There’s nothing more fun than prowling the streets in search for candy. What other day actually gives free candy to the people?! My favorite part is finding out what I received. They could be Jolly Ranchers, Starburst, Air Heads, anything! My favorites are skittles and chocolate. During Trick-or-Treating, you can see all the decorations or the houses, and if you find them you find candy, or you can go to your friend’s house and ask for candy. But Trick-or-Treating is even better when there are more people. It’s the time of year when all your friends can get together and race each other to the door.
Another one of my favorite Halloween events is picking out costumes. According to history, way back then on Halloween, people dress up as different shapes, animals, sizes, and people to scare away evil spirits. But nowadays people do it to participate in Trick-or-Treating and costume contests. I love costume picking because you can be anything you want to be. Plus you can try to win costume contests or scare your friends.
Lastly, another reason I like Halloween is because I can be with my friends. On normal days I’m not allowed to go outside at night and I can’t go out during the day because of my daily work load. So, this is the only day I can have a whole night to my friends, myself, and my candy. If I went myself Trick-or-Treating then it wouldn’t be as entertaining. There would be no one to talk to, to race with, or to trade candy with.
For these reasons, Halloween is my favorite holiday because of the Trick-or-Treating, costume picking, and being able to see my friends.
